Hiking in Chapada da Diamantina

Picture
Considered by many to be the trekking capital of Brazil, the Chapada da Diamantina (or Diamond Highlands) is a spectacular hiking destination. The best trips take in huge waterfalls and canyons; freshwater pools for swimming; stunning panoramic views; and remote trails through the forest, along riverbeds and across mountains.

Hiking in the Vale do Pati / Pati Valley (4 days/ 3 nights)

Backpackers around the world have chosen this trek as one of the most beautiful adventures in Brazil. Pati Valley offers amazing views as well as waterfalls, canyons, caves and exuberant fauna.
When diamond exploitation and coffee plantations were an important economic activity in the area, around 2,000 people lived at the Valley; today only 11 families remain. They receive visitors at their homes from all over the world offering shelter, food supplies and an insight into the way the local community lives in harmony with nature.
