Hiking Day Trips

All trips include English speaking guide and transport as described. Lunch included on Eco-Farm trip only.
All Full Day Trips, except for Gold Trail which is Half-day Trip.


What to wear:         Trainers/ tennis shoes or light hiking boots.

What to bring:         Sunscreen, Swimsuit (shorts/ bikini), raingear (depending on the weather!), water,                                   snack, repellent. Don’t forget your camera!

Mamangua Tropical Fjord
Unmissable views of the whole region from 500m peak located in the Mamanguá tropical fjord, the only one of its kind in Brazil. We take the bus from Paraty to the old slaving port of Paraty Mirim where our hike into the fjord begins. After crossing the fjord by boat to get to the base of the peak it’s a steep climb to the top. On the way back we stop for lunch and a swim on the beach before taking a boat back to Paraty Mirim to catch the bus.
(note: trip can also be done by boat from Paraty which requires less walking).

Transport: bus and boat (motorised)

Walking the Gold Trail (Half-day Trip)

Step back in time on the Gold Trail, the paved road built by African slaves in the 18th Century to bring gold and precious stones out of the Brazilian interior and onto ships bound for Portugal. After walking on the trail through the rainforest we stop at waterfalls for swimming and finish up at a cachaça distillery where the rum is still made the traditional way.

Morning departure: 08.40  Afternoon departure: 13.30

Level of Difficulty: easy/ moderate (walking on uneven surfaces)
