BRAZILIAN AMAZON KAYAK TRIP
Mothership supported paddling trip to the Tapajos National Forest in the Amazon Lowlands
Paddling in the Amazon is a dream shared by many kayakers!
And we are delighted to make this dream come true. Quality kayaks and equipment; expert experienced local guides; breathtaking natural beauty; a vibrant local culture; fantastic local cuisine and of course the fauna and flora of the Amazon. On this mothership supported paddling trip you kayak the waters of the River Tapajos, one of the major tributaries of the mighty Amazon river. |
Paddling the Amazon Lowlands
The Tapajos river is full of surprises. In addition to the rainforest covered river banks the Tapajos is bordered by beautiful white sandy beaches, giving rise to its popular nickname – the Freshwater Carribean. The beaches at Love Island in front of Alter do Chão town are regularly voted into the Top 10 beaches in all Brazil!
At times the river feels so big it feels like you are paddling on openwater ocean. Except this is freshwater! At other times it´s the classic Amazon experience as you paddle narrow channels through waterlogged forest marvelling at this unique eco-system.

Food & Culture
As you would expect the local cuisine is outstanding and the mothership´s kitchen produces all sorts of delicious local dishes. Fish-lovers will gorge on grilled exotic fishes such as Pirarucu and Tambaqui. There will also be plenty of opportunity to experience the local ribeirinho riverbank culture. As part of this unforgettable experience we will explore the forest with former rubber tappers and paddle local boats with villagers.
