Rodrigo (Jungle Boy)
Paraty Explorer: Rodrigo
Born and bred in Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo studied Business at university whilst working for a multinational. In 2001, in a radical lifestyle change, Rodrigo abandoned city life and moved to Ilha Grande (Big Island), an ecological paradise on the Brazilian Green Coast. A state accredited Embratur guide (reg. 19.013120.96-1) Rodrigo is trained in first aid and rescue and has worked as a qualified dive instructor, a rappel/abseiling instructor, a bikini bootcamp trainer and crewed on both motor and sail boats.
Always on the look out for personal challenges Rodrigo entered the Ilha Grande Challenge (a 118km race on foot around Ilha Grande) and completed it in the record, non-stop time of 20 hours and 3 minutes. This is Rodrigo’s favourite endurance course and he’s always up for doing it with whoever has the courage and desire to face the challenge!

Michael (Paddy)
After fleeing the London ratrace and a career in sales and marketing Belfast born Michael travelled extensively up and down the Brazilian coastline before eventually settling in Paraty in 2002. After a difficult first encounter with kayaks (his mum forced him to go when growing up on Guernsey) Michael never looked back and has been a keen paddler ever since. This is just one of the many great attractions Paraty holds for him. Over the years Michael has criss-crossed the region by land, sea and air and in the process developed the unique travel experiences offered by Paraty Explorer. An experienced Guide Michael has worked for local Tour Operators, an Adventure Spa and the Tocorime Tall Sailing Ship. Through Paraty Explorer Michael gets to do what he enjoys best – showing visitors the very best Paraty has to offer (with time for the odd ice cold beer along the way).
